Developing Sites That Promote
Profitability

When selecting a site concept that will be an effective business
tool, there are two major considerations: (1) picking a topic that
you understand and believe in, and (2) matching your affiliate
products to your content. Without these two essential elements, you
cannot hope to create an informative site that will produce revenue.
Understand Your Topic
If you aren’t knowledgeable about the content on your Web site, you
cannot expect visitors to be interested in what you have to say.
When producing Web content, it’s essential to present yourself in an
authoritative fashion. Convincing your visitors that you have
information they need will only encourage them to buy products you
promote.
The more you know and understand about your concept, the better
chance you have of putting together a site that is meaningful and
useful to your visitors. Consider the following when brainstorming
ideas:
What new insight might you have on a familiar topic?
What is something that you know that other people don’t?
What topics do you want to know more about yourself?
What information can you add that offers a unique perspective?
Take time to consider these questions carefully. Once you have
narrowed your list, you can begin matching the subject matter to the
types of products or services you are promoting. Strongly consider
the topics that will draw traffic and that will likely position
visitors to click-through.
Match Concepts to Your Product
Now that you’ve selected a topic, begin thinking about ways that
your topic can generate revenue. To best link affiliate products to
your site, ask yourself the following questions:
What additional information would a visitor want that might lead to
sales?
How can I best guide my visitors toward my affiliates’ sites?
How can I present my information so that it corresponds with my
affiliate programs?
What other products and services relate, even peripherally, to the
information on the site?
After answering those questions, you’ll need to map out your site
content. By taking the time to organize your information, and
matching it carefully to your affiliate programs, you greatly
increase the chance that visitors will click-through…and buy!
If you find that you are struggling with ways to match your content
to the product, then you may need to run through the brainstorming
topics a second (or even third) time. Think about how your
affiliate’s product helped you and present that knowledge. Consider
what the product offers that you believe in and highlight its
strengths. Matching your affiliate’s products to your content is
essential to your success. You don’t want to launch a site only to
discover it doesn’t warrant enough visitor interest in the products
you promote to make it profitable.
Expand Your Site to Increase Revenue
Once you have successfully matched your content to your affiliate
programs, you can start to expand your concept. Begin thinking about
areas in which you can expand your offerings to increase sales.
Selecting complementary products is an excellent way to increase
sales. Because you are already promoting my eBook “How An

promoting a companion video or training course that visitors might
also find useful. And, once you have found affiliates whose products
sell, find out what other programs they offer and promote those as

Don’t shy away from including information that does not directly
lead to sales. Remember, the key to successful affiliate sales is a
content-rich site. The more information you provide, the better
chance you have of visitors using your site, clicking-through to
affiliate links, and making that sale.
