A Few Words of Advice

Supporting affiliates is a big part of my job. I want my affiliates
to be successful so that I can be successful too. Consider the
following advice when evaluating your traffic and resulting sales.
Doing so is sure to help increase your profits.
Don’t Muddy the Waters
You may represent more than one affiliate. And, if so, the
temptation to include their products together on one site can be
great. Resist this temptation and, instead, create a site that works
well with each of your affiliate’s products.
Creating one site with a hodge-podge of products will not only turn
off visitors but also discourage visitors from buying any of your
products. A clean site with carefully chosen quality products
instills confidence in visitors that they can trust the offerings.
If a strong affiliate has more than one product, it can be helpful
to group those products together. For example, my e-book "How an
Overworked Traveling Soggy Sandwich Eating Dental Hygienist Made
$11,212.00 Per Month on eBay” and my at-home course are compatible
products. Thus, selling them off of the same web site is ideal
because these two products are complementary and work well together.
Take Advantage of Affiliate Support
It is also important to work with companies who are committed to,
and support, their affiliates. Pre-built ads, emails, and articles
are great tools when they are prepared in a professional manner.
Select programs that make these marketing tools available to the
affiliates promoting their products. For example, in addition to
pre-built banner and text ads, I continually update my Affiliate
Resources page to include helpful news and information about selling
on the Web.
Stay on top of specials that you may be able to pass on to your
potential buyers. And always ensure that you stay information about
your product and have up-to-date information.
Work With Affiliates Who Stand by Their Product
Watch for companies that stand by their products and their
affiliates and be wary of those that don’t. Some companies (such as
my own) offer money-back guarantees. This not only demonstrates my
belief in my product but also increases buyer confidence. If the
primary seller stands by their product, it is a sign that you can
stand by it as well. Not all affiliate programs offer full
guarantees and that’s okay. The important point is that you need
some commitment that the product you are selling is of sufficient
quality.
A Final Note: Direct Visitors to the Right Page
With all of your efforts, if visitors don’t end up at the right
spot, you’ll lose the sale. Always make sure that your click-through
link brings visitors not to the affiliate’s home page but to the
correct page where they may buy the product.
Remember, you don’t want to make visitors do too much work or you’ll
risk losing them!
